The Adamawa State Judiciary traces its roots back to the establishment of Gongola State in 1976. Initially formed as part of the Gongola State Judiciary, it became the Adamawa State Judiciary following the state’s creation in 1991. Since then, the judiciary has evolved and expanded to meet the growing legal needs of Adamawa State’s residents.
The Adamawa State Judiciary is composed of various courts, including the High Court of Justice, Sharia Court of Appeal, Customary Court of Appeal, and subordinate courts. These courts are organized into judicial divisions, each serving specific geographical areas within the state. Additionally, the judiciary is supported by administrative departments and personnel responsible for court management, operations, and support services.
